  • Remember to not isolate yourself
  • Let people into your life who care about you
  • Avoid alcohol and drugs – they intensify negative emotions
  • Focus on aspects of life you can control
  • Give yourself time to heal
  • Avoid important life decisions immediately after a breakup
  • Seek counseling if:
    • Your mood is not improved with time
    • You feel “stuck” in a negative pattern and unable to change it
    • Your reactions to the breakup are negatively affecting the positive aspects of your life over a period of time
